Political Advocacy

Are you feeling fired up and ready to get more involved with advocacy? Great! Here are a few starting resources for building a reliable network of sources to understand what is going on with anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, why there are so many anti-LGBTQ+ bills, and some of the larger context and strategy behind the bills.

There is some information within these resources about how to get involved in fighting against anti-trans bills, but as I discuss often in my book, your individual impact will go the furthest on a local level. Consider finding the LGBTQ+ advocacy groups in your city, region, or state, to ask what the most pressing issues are for your local community and how you can best be of services making a difference there. Check out what's happening on your local school board, local laws, and state legislature!

It can feel overwhelming sometimes, but remember: This was never meant to be a problem that one person could solve by themselves, and every change we've seen and celebrated has been a long line of small actions by people just like you who were ready to see a change. It takes all of us!
